A hog roast near Fordingbridge
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Full catering or machine hire? With catering we roast, carve and serve; with hire you do the cooking. For bigger events, catering is normally the easier choice. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
Why Fordingbridge hosts choose us
- A choice of salads and potatoes
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
- Fresh carving at the serving station

Questions from Fordingbridge
We’re gathering after a service at St Mary's Church: can you cater?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.
Do you clear up?
Our staff clear the serving area, and we take our equipment with us.
How long does a hog roast take to cook?
A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.
Can you cater for vegetarians?
The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. We do not provide halal meat.
Do you offer gluten-free rolls?
We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.
What meats can we have?
Pork is the classic, and you can add spit-roast lamb or rotisserie chicken. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.
How does hog roast hire work?
We handle the roasting, carving and serving. Just give us an outdoor spot to cook.
What do you need from us on the day?
Only the space and a contact number. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.
How it works
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Around midsummer it stays light in Fordingbridge until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:05pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.
- We start with a few details about your event.
- We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
- We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
- We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
- We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.
How to prepare
- Give us a contact number for the day
- Measure the narrowest gate or passage
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
Getting a price
It is easy to get a price: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. We will reply with a clear price and what’s included. Use our quote form.

Looking after everyone

- Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
- Collect allergies with your RSVPs
- Put the menu on the invitation
- We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
Name someone to meet us, ideally not the host, so you can enjoy yourself.

Rotisserie chicken
Golden rotisserie chicken goes into rolls or onto plates alongside the pork.
Roast pork
We carve as we serve, so it stays hot and juicy right to the last roll.
Should I cook it myself?
Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.
Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
- Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
- Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
- Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
- Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
