Book a hog roast in Foxbury

Hog roast hire for your event in Foxbury

The smell of roasting pork is half the appeal. We roast slowly on site in Foxbury, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. Typical bookings include gatherings after a funeral and birthdays and anniversaries, serving spit-roast lamb, salads and hog roast rolls.

In a London neighbourhood like Foxbury, the big question is getting the roaster to the cooking spot. If there’s no side passage, a rear gate, yard or communal space may work, and a picture helps us check. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you’re not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Around midsummer it stays light in Foxbury until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat

Organising for someone else?

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

Space, access and the venue

We need room to cook safely and under cover. Things to check:

  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding

Foxbury is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

Allergies and dietary needs

Some guests won’t eat pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed

The roaster needs looking after for hours, and that’s what we’re there for. You can relax and enjoy the day.

Add lamb or chicken for a second roast.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

What comes off the roaster

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

We can serve in rolls or on plates, and gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Rotisserie chicken

Golden rotisserie chicken goes into rolls or onto plates.
