About our hog roast hire in Great Kimble

It is a simple format that suits most crowds: roast pork in a soft roll, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling, plus lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan choices if you want them. Popular choices include spit-roast lamb, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken, and we’re regularly asked to cater big birthdays and anniversaries and community events.

Somewhere as small as Great Kimble, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Is Great Kimble too small for a hog roast?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

How far is Great Kimble from London?

About 35 miles from central London.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We clear the serving area and pack away, and leave the area tidy.

Can you cater in Great Kimble?

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will confirm everything in writing.

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

The menu, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

Spit-roast lamb

Spit-roast lamb is popular alongside the pork, and handy for anyone who doesn’t eat pork.

What the cooking area needs

A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Look for:

  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, and our staff clear the serving area afterwards.

A second roast, lamb or chicken, gives people a choice.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we do not need mains power to cook. Evenings in Great Kimble stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it’s dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Let us know about tight access
