A hog roast near Henton

About our hog roast hire in Henton

The smell of roasting pork is half the appeal. We roast slowly on site in Henton, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. Popular choices include crackling, new potatoes and hog roast rolls, and we’re regularly asked to cater community events and wakes and memorial gatherings.

Somewhere like Henton, a yard or firm field often works. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why book our hog roast in Henton

  • Served at the time you choose
  • An itemised quote
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork

Henton questions

How far is Henton from London?

Roughly 38 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

We are gathering after a service at Church of the Holy Trinity: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Send us the address.

Is crockery included?

We supply plates as standard. China is available at an extra cost.

Do you cover Henton?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, Henton and the rest of Oxfordshire included. Tell us the venue and we will quote.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

What comes with the hog roast?

Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.

Can you cook a hog roast in a small garden?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Describe the space and we will tell you honestly.

Is mains power needed?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

What a hog roast costs

Here’s what affects the price:

  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Travel to Henton
  • Site access
  • Season and day of the week

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

What to tell us

To check the date and the space, we’ll need:

  • Allergies we should know about
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Where the event is
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture

Every event is quoted on its own, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Tell us about your event for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.

Full catering or machine hire?

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

How it works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and get on with roasting and serving. In Henton, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

How to prepare

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
