Hog roast hire in Hyde, slow-roasted on site

There is nothing quite like the smell of a hog roast drifting across a garden or field. We roast slowly on site in Hyde, then serve it in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Popular choices include halloumi skewers, hog roast rolls and spit-roast lamb, and we are often booked for community events and gatherings after a funeral.

In a rural place like Hyde, roast pork in a field is hard to beat. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We’ll keep you both updated.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and pass on anything they need from us.

Hyde: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Hyde?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the New Forest National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

Can you roast in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.

Do you cover Hyde?

We do. Send us the address and we will confirm availability.

Is there a non-pork option?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Ask us for a quote.

What do people get?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a cold buffet, a hog roast is hot, freshly carved and feels like an occasion. Buffets can sit out for hours. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Should I cook it myself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

The menu, dish by dish

Crackling

For many people, the crackling is the best bit: crisp, golden and full of flavour, straight off the hog.

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is a simple, popular alternative to pork, roasted until golden.

Looking after everyone

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:

  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so you only need to provide the space.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Perfect for your event in Hyde

Our full booking checklist

Step by step

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Late September evenings in Hyde lose the light at about 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 4:05pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

Preparing for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
