Hog roast hire in Kimbridge, slow-roasted on site

Hog roast hire means a whole pig roasted slowly at your venue, for hours, under a gazebo outside. When it’s ready, our chef carves it and our staff serve it in soft rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and a piece of crackling. For wakes and memorial gatherings and big birthdays and anniversaries, we can cook new potatoes, halloumi skewers and crackling for your guests.

In a small place like Kimbridge, a hog roast frequently goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and level, firm ground is the key. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Prices and what affects them

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Site access
  • Time on site
  • Numbers
  • Distance from us

For larger numbers, a hog roast is usually good value, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Details that help

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • An estimate of numbers
  • Your date and serving time

The quickest way to get a price is to send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.

Should I cook it myself?

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Planning the cooking spot

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

Planning for dietary needs

Rolls and stuffing typically contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. A few more tips:

  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list

Slow roasting needs attention, and that’s what we are there for. You can relax and enjoy the day.

Ask for gluten-free rolls for anyone who needs them.

The process

Service is quick once we start carving: the chef carves and the team serves, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Kimbridge, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June, but by late December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
