Hog roast hire for your event in Madley Park

With hog roast hire, the cooking happens at your event, which means it is carved hot, with crisp crackling. Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options can go alongside. For staff days and open days and birthdays and anniversaries, we’ll put together a menu of new potatoes, rotisserie chicken and hog roast rolls for your guests.

In and around Madley Park, gardens and village halls are common choices. If access is tight, we will plan around it. The hog is roasted on site at your event, slowly, over several hours.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast does not need a kitchen, which usually keeps the cost down. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Why book our hog roast in Madley Park

  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork

Read our pricing or what a hog roast costs.

Should I cook it myself?

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Crockery choices
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Which meats and sides you choose

The main driver is numbers: the price per head typically falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

What to tell us

These are the details we need:

  • Where the event is
  • Roughly how many people
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Allergies we should know about

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

About the food

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which works well for larger groups.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Add salads, coleslaw and potatoes to make it a proper meal, especially at a sit-down event.

Perfect for your event in Madley Park

  • Wakes
  • Parties at home

For a christening or gathering after a service at a church such as Church of Holy Trinity, the roaster can be set up at a hall or home nearby.

  • What the price includes, item by item
  • Travel and any London charges
  • What the cooking area needs: space, cover and access

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Planning the cooking spot

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Your questions about a hog roast in Madley Park

Can you cater after a service at Church of Holy Trinity?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Send us the address.

What’s the nearest station to Madley Park?

The closest is Combe station, roughly 4.1 miles away.

Do we need to provide electricity?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

Can you roast in the rain?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Will there be enough to go round?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will talk it through when we quote.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Send us the details and we will quote.

Will people get crackling?

Yes, the crackling is shared out as we carve.

What about coeliacs?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

How the day works

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Around midsummer it stays light in Madley Park until about 9:30pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

How to prepare

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
