What comes off the roaster
Stuffing and apple sauce
A spoonful of apple sauce and a slice of stuffing make the roll.
Spit-roast lamb
Lamb on the spit roasts gently for hours, and it is carved the same way.
Allergies and dietary needs
You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:
- Find out who doesn’t eat pork, and order an alternative for them
- Collect allergies with your RSVPs
- Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
- Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
Slow roasting needs attention, and that’s what we’re there for. You can get on with your event.
A second roast, lamb or chicken, gives people a choice, priced in the quote.
What a hog roast costs
Your quote depends on:
- Numbers
- The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
- Travel to North End
- Crockery choices
What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.
What we need to know
We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:
- Your date and serving time
- Any dietary needs or allergies
- What the outdoor space is like
- Anything the venue has asked for
A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so it is easy to compare like for like. Fill in our quote form.
For event organisers in North End
If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep you both updated.
Booking for a club or group? A single point of contact keeps things simple, particularly when timings shift.
Full catering or machine hire?
Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.
DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Compared with food vans, a hog roast serves plenty of people from one roast. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.
What you get with us
- A clear quote with everything listed
- We bring everything to cook and serve
- Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
- Served at the time you choose

North End: your questions answered
Which station is closest to North End?
The closest is Hilsea station, roughly 1.2 miles away.
Is North End close to London?
Roughly 64 miles from the centre of London.
What comes with the hog roast?
The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.
Do you leave the area tidy?
Our staff clear the serving area, so you are not left with the mess.
When do you start roasting?
A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.
Can you cater for vegetarians?
The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.
Do you need power or water?
Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.
How big a hog will we need?
The roast is chosen to suit how many you are feeding, so tell us your best estimate. We’ll confirm the menu in the quote.
The process
Serving is straightforward: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Around midsummer it stays light in North End until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:00pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.
- First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
- You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
- We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
- At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
- Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.
How to prepare
- Give us final numbers a week or so before
- Have a level outdoor spot ready
- Gather dietary requirements early
