What a hog roast costs

Each price is built from:

  • Time on site
  • Menu choices and extras
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Your date and serving time
  • Your menu choices

To get a quote, just tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Fill in our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

Venues often have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

Full catering or machine hire?

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Thinking of a hog roast in Hammersmith Park? Cooking in a park needs the owner’s permission, typically the council’s, and many parks don’t allow it.

Before booking anyone

  • How long the roast takes and when they’ll arrive
  • Whether VAT is included
  • The deposit, balance and cancellation terms
  • Any travel or access charges

What the cooking area needs

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:

  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains

Shepherd's Bush is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

Why choose a hog roast in Shepherd's Bush?

Next to a street-food van, a hog roast feeds a crowd quickly from one roast, with no waiting for individual orders to cook. A hog roast is often good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Why book with us

  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • No surprises: everything in writing

How the day works

We roast under cover, so a shower will not spoil the food. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Shepherd's Bush, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, but by late December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

How to prepare

  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

Common questions in Shepherd's Bush

We are gathering after a service at Shepherd's Bush Tabernacle: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Shepherd's Bush?

Frequently, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

What do you need from us on the day?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

What if things run late?

We’ll be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will adjust.

Is it just pork?

Pork is the classic, and you can add spit-roast lamb or rotisserie chicken. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear the serving area, so you’re not left with the mess.

What if it rains?

Rain does not stop the cooking. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Is there a non-pork option?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t provide halal meat.

What comes off the roaster

Stuffing and apple sauce

A spoonful of apple sauce and a slice of stuffing turn a pork roll into a hog roast roll, just as they should.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

For vegans, there’s a vegan burger or sausage in a roll, so nobody misses out.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
