About our hog roast hire in Stonestreet Green

Hog roast hire means a whole pig roasted slowly at your venue, over several hours, outdoors under cover. When it’s ready, our chef carves it and our staff serve it in soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Typical bookings include staff days and open days and birthdays and anniversaries, serving coleslaw, hog roast rolls and halloumi skewers.

Somewhere as small as Stonestreet Green, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. Plates come as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Planning for dietary needs

You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options

You won’t need to worry about the food on the day. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, then clear up.

We can supply china instead of standard plates, quoted separately.

Your questions about a hog roast in Stonestreet Green

Do you come out to small places like Stonestreet Green?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Could you cook in Poulton Wood?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we will talk you through it.

Is crockery included?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Do we need a big space?

Access and clearance matter more than size. Tell us about the garden and we will advise.

What comes with the hog roast?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.

Do you serve the food?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.

The process

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. Late September evenings in Stonestreet Green lose the light at about 7:00pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:50pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
