Hog roast hire in The Valley, carved to order

Hiring a hog roast means a whole hog cooked slowly on site, for hours, under a gazebo outside. When it is ready, our chef carves it and our staff serve it in soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Popular choices include halloumi skewers, crackling and rotisserie chicken, and we’re regularly asked to cater work summer parties and parties at home.

For a rural spot like The Valley, a hog roast feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. We bring plates as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

Our full booking checklist

For planners, venues and organisers

Booking for a club or group? One clear contact makes everything easier, especially on the day.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Planning the cooking spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:

  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

Popular choices

  • Coleslaw
  • Stuffing
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Roast or jacket potatoes
  • New potatoes
  • Apple sauce
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Crackling
  • Salads
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Spit-roast lamb

The Valley questions

What’s the nearest station to The Valley?

The closest is Charing station, roughly 3.2 miles away.

How far is The Valley from London?

About 42 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

What do people get?

Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Is there a non-pork option?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat is not something we offer.

How far ahead should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But it’s always worth asking: use our quote form.

What do you need from us on the day?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

Is our garden big enough?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Describe the space and we will tell you honestly.

About the food

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Tell us how many vegans to expect, and we’ll bring enough vegan burgers or sausages.

Catered or do it yourself?

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering we roast, carve and serve; with hire you do the cooking. Most hosts choose catering for anything bigger than a family party. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Why book our hog roast in The Valley

  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Planned to your running order
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to

Read our prices page and the cost guide.

Allergies and dietary needs

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so you only need to provide the space.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

How it works

The secret is time: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin turns into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. Evenings in The Valley stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:00pm; once it’s dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Let us know about tight access
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
