Hog roast hire for Weddington

How we price a hog roast

There is no fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Site access
  • Menu choices and extras
  • Plates or china
  • The serving time and how long we are on site

For larger numbers, a hog roast is typically good value, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

What we need to know

When you enquire, it helps to include:

  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • The venue or postcode
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Rough numbers

The quickest way to get a price is to send us your date, venue and numbers. A photo of the cooking area helps. Use our quote form.

Hog roast hire in Weddington, carved to order

A hog roast is one of the simplest ways to feed a crowd in Weddington: a single slow roast, carved to order. Everything comes with us, and we serve and tidy up afterwards. Popular choices include hog roast rolls, salads and crackling, and we’re often booked for big birthdays and anniversaries and village fêtes and school fairs.

For a rural spot like Weddington, a hog roast feels right at home. Tell us about gates, tracks and the ground. Timings are planned around your event, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

How it works

We arrive hours before you want to eat, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. Light matters for a long roast: around Weddington, it stays light until about 9:15pm at midsummer, while in December the light goes at about 3:50pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking

Planning for dietary needs

Rolls and stuffing usually contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:

  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

Name someone to meet us, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

Ask for gluten-free rolls for anyone who needs them.

Weddington: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Weddington?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Nicholas: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

What if things run late?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Is it just pork?

Pork is the classic, and you can add spit-roast lamb or rotisserie chicken. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Who serves?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, and we clear up when service is finished.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

What about guests who don’t eat pork?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We do not offer halal meat.

What happens after service?

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.

Occasions we serve in Weddington

You can taste the hours of roasting: tender pork and proper crackling, carved fresh for every roll.

We are regularly asked to cater a wide mix of occasions near Weddington, such as:

  • Garden parties and barbecues
  • Christmas parties
  • Staff days and open days
  • Village fêtes and school fairs

For a christening or gathering after a service at a church such as Church of St Nicholas, the roaster can be set up at a hall or home nearby.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Next to a buffet, a hog roast is hot, freshly carved and feels like an occasion. Buffets can sit out for hours. Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

Why us?

  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to

Take a look at our pricing and our hog roast cost guide.

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, and served hot.

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and it suits fussy eaters.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
