Hog roast hire in Well Hall, carved to order

Before you choose a spot

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work with a little planning. Here’s what helps:

  • A level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

Well Hall is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

From the roaster

  • New potatoes
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Coleslaw
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Salads
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Crackling
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Roast or jacket potatoes
  • Spit-roast lamb

How we price a hog roast

The price comes down to:

  • How many people are eating
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Site access
  • Season and day of the week

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What to tell us

When you contact us, it helps to include:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • The venue or postcode
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Your date and serving time

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.

How it works

People love watching the carving: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. Around midsummer it stays light in Well Hall until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

Allergies and dietary needs

Some guests will not eat pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

We’ll agree a contact for the day, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

A second roast, lamb or chicken, gives people a choice, priced in the quote.

Catered or do it yourself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

A hog roast or other catering?

The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. So we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan choices too for anyone who doesn’t eat it. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

Why us?

  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it

Questions from Well Hall

We’re gathering after a service at St Barnabas: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

What if our house in Well Hall has no side access?

Frequently, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

Is crackling included?

Of course: the skin turns to crackling and everyone gets some.

Who serves?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

Can we just hire the roaster?

We do, if you’re happy to roast and carve yourself. Ask and we will talk you through it.

Do we need to provide electricity?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

Do you cover the whole of Greater London?

We cater across Greater London, including Well Hall. Ask for a quote.

What is hog roast hire?

We handle the roasting, carving and serving. All we need is a place to cook outdoors.

Working with your venue

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we will tell you what we can send.

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
