How hog roast hire works in SE9
We provide a fully catered hog roast: roasting, carving and serving are all done for you. If you’d rather do it yourself, we also hire out the machine. We’re frequently asked to cater birthdays and anniversaries and community events, serving rotisserie chicken, coleslaw and halloumi skewers.
When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat.
- First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
- We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
- On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
- Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
- We clear the serving area and pack away.
Cost
Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

What’s near Eltham

Planning a hog roast in SE9
SE9 covers everything from Eltham, Sidcup and Chislehurst to 0 small villages and hamlets, and a hog roast suits every kind of setting. Town bookings mean planning access; village bookings mean planning lanes and ground.
Eltham: After a service at Church of Holy Trinity, the hog roast can be ready at a nearby hall or house. If guests are travelling by rail, Mottingham station serves Eltham directly. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: around Eltham, it stays light until about 9:20pm at midsummer, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm.
Looking after everyone
Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:
- Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
- Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
- Collect allergies with your RSVPs
- Put the menu on the invitation
Let us know if the day runs late: we can hold the roast for a while.
Add lamb or chicken for a second roast, priced in the quote.
For planners, venues and organisers
Booking for a club or group? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.
Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before you book. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.
Events we cater in SE9
You do not need much on your side: an outdoor cooking spot and a contact on the day. We bring the rest.
People around SE9 book us for small gatherings and big outdoor days alike. For example:
- Christmas fairs
- Club events and presentations
- Wakes and memorial gatherings
- Big birthdays and anniversaries
Catered or do it yourself?
Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.
Planning the cooking spot
The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:
- A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
- Vehicle access close to the cooking area
- Any venue rules sorted in advance
Common questions in SE9
Can you cater for vegetarians?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat is not something we offer.
Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?
Outside, always. Serving indoors is generally fine if the venue is happy.
What space does the roaster need?
A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will check it with you before booking.
What about coeliacs?
We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We’ll give you full allergen information for every dish.
Do we need a big space?
Access and clearance matter more than size. Tell us about the garden and we will advise.
How long does a hog roast take to cook?
It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it’s several hours. You’ll know our arrival time in advance.
Do you need power or water?
No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.
- Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
