Book a hog roast in Westmarsh

How our hog roast hire works in Westmarsh

Booking a hog roast means you do not have to cook. We get there early, put up the cover and roast for hours, ready to carve when you are. We serve hog roast rolls, spit-roast lamb and coleslaw, and we are regularly asked to cater milestone birthdays and staff days and open days.

In a small place like Westmarsh, a hog roast frequently goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

What happens on the day

Serving is straightforward: the chef carves and the team serves, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. By late September, sunset in Westmarsh is around 7:00pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:50pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. You share the when, where and how many.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Let us know about tight access
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

Minster station, about 2.6 miles north-east of the centre.

Is Westmarsh close to London?

About 60 miles from central London.

What do you need from us on the day?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

What’s the price?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Tell us your date and we will send a price.

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will talk it through when we quote.

Is it just pork?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Do you travel across Kent?

We cover Kent and the rest of London and the South East. Send us the address and we will quote.

Do we need our own staff?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.

Catered or do it yourself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

What we serve, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: grilled halloumi with vegetables.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.

Planners, venues and businesses

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll tell you what we can send.

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast does not need a kitchen, which normally keeps the cost down. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why book with us

  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Planned to your running order
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. Other tips:

  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Put the menu on the invitation

The roaster needs looking after for hours, and that’s what we are there for. You can get on with your event.

Prefer to cook yourself? Ask about DIY machine hire.

Space, access and the venue

It’s worth planning the cooking area in advance. The ideal spot has:

  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • Access for our equipment, without steps
  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What affects the price in Westmarsh

Here’s what affects the price:

  • The number of people
  • Plates or china
  • Season and day of the week
  • Distance from us

Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What to tell us

When you enquire, please mention:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Allergies we should know about

We need a few details to quote: the date and serving time, the venue or CT3 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Send us your details through our quote form.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
