Planning a London party in Brixton? A hog roast keeps you out of the kitchen, at home or a hall with a garden. Warn the neighbours: it roasts for hours. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Party venues around Brixton

Brixton is about 1 mile south of Stockwell, in Greater London. We cater parties at homes, halls, workplaces and venues in Brixton and the surrounding area. Brixton is one of 764 places in Greater London we cover.

If your garden is too small, local halls and clubs near Brixton can be an alternative, as long as there is outdoor space for the roaster. If you had Max Roach Park in mind, ask the council or landowner first: we can’t simply set up a roaster in a public park.

This part of Greater London takes in SW2, SW9 and SW4, so your party can be anywhere in it. Prices and what affects them

We work out each quote from:

  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Time on site
  • Plates or china
  • The number of people

For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Getting an accurate quote

When you get in touch, please mention:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Where the event is
  • Rough numbers
  • What the outdoor space is like

Every quote lists the menu, the serving time, staff and plates, so you can compare caterers fairly. Use our quote form.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with cooking for everyone yourself, a catered hog roast gives you the day back. The main driver is numbers: the price per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why book our hog roast in Brixton

  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

See our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.

What we serve, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

For vegetarians, halloumi and vegetable skewers are cooked separately from the meat, a hot, filling option of their own.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, easy to eat standing up. Ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them.

FAQs for Brixton

Can you cater after a service at Trinity Congregational Church?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Brixton?

Often, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Should we warn the neighbours?

Give them a heads-up, especially if the roaster is near a fence.

Do we need to wash up?

We bring plates and clear up after service.

Is our garden suitable?

Frequently, yes, if there’s a level spot away from the house and trees, given access for the equipment. Send us a photo.

What space does the roaster need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll check it with you before booking.

What do people get?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

We do, if you’re happy to roast and carve yourself. Ask and we will talk you through it.

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Access for the roaster through a gate or passage
  • A level spot in the garden, on the patio or drive
  • A word with the neighbours

As a London location, Brixton is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

From the roaster

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Salads
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Stuffing and apple sauce
  • Jacket potatoes

Should I cook it myself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

The process

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We agree exactly where before the day. In Brixton, late May sunsets come at about 8:50pm and midsummer ones at about 9:20pm, so an early-evening carve is normally in daylight. After about 3:55pm in December, we need light to carve.

  1. Send us your party date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the garden or drive, then send a quote.
  3. We set up early and get the hog roasting.
  4. We carve and serve at the agreed time.
  5. We clear up and pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

Organising for someone else?

Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what we can provide.

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
