Party hog roast in Highleigh, carved to order

For a relaxed party, you can hire the machine and cook it yourself. Most hosts prefer us to do it, so they can enjoy the party. We are often asked to cater back-garden get-togethers and getting-engaged parties, serving hog roast rolls, apple sauce and coleslaw.

Near Highleigh, parties are frequently in gardens or fields. Tell us about lanes and ground, and we will handle the rest. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Is a hog roast right for your party?

Compared with a buffet, hot carved pork feels more special. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Why book our hog roast in Highleigh

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Serving and clearing done for you

Space, access and the venue

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:

  • Space away from the house, fences, sheds and trees
  • Access for the roaster through a gate or passage
  • A level patio, lawn or driveway

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

How it works

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking doesn’t depend on mains power; a nearby socket helps with lights if service runs into the evening. At midsummer, it’s light in Highleigh until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:05pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the space and send a clear quote.
  3. We set up early and get the hog roasting.
  4. When it’s time to eat, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We pack away and leave the garden tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

Planners, venues and businesses

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Think about children’s portions
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Halal isn’t offered, so arrange it separately if needed
  • Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect

At food time, we carve and serve, then tidy up.

Add coleslaw, salads and jacket potatoes to make it a full meal.

About the food

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Tell us how many vegans to expect, and we will bring enough vegan burgers or sausages.

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken off the rotisserie, carved or jointed can be served in a roll or on a plate.
