Party hog roast for Stroud Green

Party hog roast in Stroud Green, carved to order

A party at home needs a little planning for the roaster: level ground outdoors, clear of the house and fences. We will help you choose. For street parties and milestone birthdays, we will put together a menu of rotisserie chicken, jacket potatoes and hog roast rolls and more.

In Stroud Green, a party at home is the usual choice, and access is the question. With no side passage, a rear gate or front garden may work. Send us a photo. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we’ll tell you exactly what’s in each dish before you book.

Where the roaster can go in Stroud Green

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. We look for:

  • A side gate or passage wide enough to wheel the equipment
  • Somewhere for us to park nearby
  • Neighbours warned about the smell

As a London location, Stroud Green is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

FAQs for Stroud Green

We are gathering after a service at Holy Trinity: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Could you cook in Stationers Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first.

Can we cook it ourselves?

Yes, DIY machine hire is available. We’ll talk you through it when we quote.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is often possible, with the venue’s agreement.

How do we prepare?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We’ll bring the rest.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear the serving area, so you are not left with the mess.

Is there a non-pork option?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. We don’t provide halal meat.

Will a hog roast fit in our garden?

Most gardens can work, and a way to wheel the equipment through. A photo helps.

Looking after everyone

Not everyone eats pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans
  • Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
  • Check the allergen list, as stuffing generally contains gluten
  • Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed

A cooked roast holds for a while, so tell us if timings change.

Add coleslaw, salads and jacket potatoes to make it a full meal.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is usually easier.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Step by step

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Sunset in Stroud Green is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so most summer parties eat in daylight. Winter parties, dark by about 3:55pm, need lights by the roaster.

  1. You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the date and the garden or drive, then send a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours ahead and start the roast under cover.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve when you are ready.
  5. We pack away and leave the garden tidy.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about tight access

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, so they get something hot and satisfying too.

Crackling

Good crackling needs time and heat, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.

What a hog roast costs

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Distance from us
  • Site access
  • The number of people
  • Season and day of the week

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What we need to know

To get the best quote, tell us:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Rough numbers
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china

Planning ahead? Popular dates fill up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Send us your date for a quote: fill in our quote form.

Working with your venue

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We will fit in with site rules.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a buffet, a hog roast is hot and freshly carved, and nothing sits out all afternoon. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why Stroud Green hosts choose us

  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Planned to your running order
