Hog roast hire in OX17

Hog roast hire across OX17

In OX17, a hog roast is an easy way to feed a lot of people: one roast, slow-cooked for hours, carved in front of everyone. We bring the roaster, the cover and the serving kit, and our staff serve and clear. On the menu are halloumi skewers, crackling and new potatoes, and we are frequently booked for clubhouse events and corporate events.

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we do not need mains power to cook.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

Cost

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Hog roast catering in OX17: local guide

From Banbury, Grimsbury and Drayton to 1 villages and hamlets, bookings across OX17 range from town gardens to farmyards, and a hog roast works in all of them. In towns, plan access to the garden; in villages, tell us about lanes and ground.

Banbury: For anyone arriving by rail, the nearest station is Banbury station, about 0.8 miles east. PTAs at schools such as St Mary's Church of England Primary School often look for a hot-food stall for fairs and sports days. Evenings in Banbury stay light until about 9:30pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

Allergies and dietary needs

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, then clear up.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

How we price a hog roast

Each price is built from:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • Crockery choices
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • The journey to the venue

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

What we need to know

To get the best quote, tell us:

  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Your menu choices
  • Roughly how many people
  • The venue or postcode

We price every booking individually, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Ask us for a quote for your event: fill in our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

It is worth planning the cooking area in advance. We look for:

  • Access for our equipment, without steps
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

Apple sauce brings sweetness and sharpness go with the pork perfectly. Note that stuffing usually contains gluten.

Crackling

Good crackling needs time and heat, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.

For planners, venues and organisers

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Questions from OX17

What’s the price?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Tell us your date and we’ll send a price.

When do you start roasting?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Do we need a big space?

Access and clearance matter more than size. Tell us about the garden and we’ll advise.

Do you serve the crackling?

Crackling is part of every roll for anyone who wants it.

How do we prepare?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Where does the hog roast go?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. A picture helps.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
