Catered or do it yourself?
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
Wedding hog roast near Balmerlawn
A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It feels like an occasion. Typical bookings include wedding breakfasts and garden weddings at home, serving halloumi skewers, carved roast pork and new potatoes.
Near Balmerlawn, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Let us know about access and ground. Our staff serve and clear, so you are not left handing out rolls.
Diets, allergies and alternatives
We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:
- Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
- Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card
- Halal isn’t offered, so plan separately if needed
- Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen list
You will not have to think about the food. We roast through the afternoon and carve at the agreed time.
Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.
What the cooking area needs
The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:
- Power for lights in the evening
- Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
- A route to wheel equipment to the spot
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
