About our wedding hog roast in Beddington

For a relaxed wedding in Beddington, a hog roast hits the right note: proper food, carved fresh, with plenty for everyone. We serve and tidy up, so you can enjoy it. Typical bookings include weddings in a marquee and evening food after the first dance, with spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken and crackling.

Couples in Beddington often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. We need an outdoor cooking area clear of the venue, which many London venues can’t offer, so ask early. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Planning for dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice

Evening food normally goes out an hour or two after the first dance.

Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in evening photos.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

If your venue does its own catering, check whether you can bring in a hog roast. Some venues charge a fee. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

Why book with us

  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

Full catering or machine hire?

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is normally easier.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

What happens on the day

Your timings come first. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so keep us posted on the day. For a summer wedding in Beddington, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

Getting ready for the day

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

FAQs for Beddington

What if our house in Beddington has no side access?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard generally works. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

Can you cater after a service at Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Where will the roaster go at our wedding?

We cook outside, never inside the marquee, and we agree the spot with your venue.

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Yes, evening food is very popular. Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling go down well after dancing.

Where does the hog roast go?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. A picture helps.

Do venues allow outside hog roasts?

Your venue decides: some welcome outside caterers, others don’t. We’ll sort the details with them.

Can you roast in the rain?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t provide halal meat.

Where the roaster can go in Beddington

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • Permission for outside catering
  • A serving area close to where guests eat
  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot

As a London location, Beddington is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What a hog roast costs

Things that change the price:
