Wedding hog roast in Breach, slow-roasted on site
A wedding hog roast can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the time you’ve set. On the menu are spit-roast lamb, halloumi skewers and salads, and typical bookings are for late-night wedding food and second-day get-togethers.
There’s something special about a country wedding near Breach, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. Our staff serve and clear, so you’re not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

What we serve, dish by dish
Stuffing and apple sauce
Stuffing and a dollop of apple sauce turn a pork roll into a hog roast roll.
Roast pork
Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved thick or thin, as people like it, straight from the roaster.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
If your venue does its own catering, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. There may be a fee. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Questions from Breach
Can you do a hog roast in Jumping Downs?
Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
Is Breach close to London?
About 58 miles from central London.
Do we need extra food?
Quantities are based on your guest list, and we’ll confirm it in writing.
Do we need to provide electricity?
The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.
Will there be enough to go round?
Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will talk it through when we quote.
Where will the roaster go at our wedding?
We cook outside, never inside the marquee.
Can we have a hog roast as the main meal?
Yes. We serve it on plates with salads and potatoes, with china available, and our staff serve your guests.
Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?
The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is often possible, with the venue’s agreement.
The process
It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. In Breach, midsummer sunset is about 9:15pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:00pm, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:50pm.
- Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
- We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
- Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
- We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
- Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.
Preparing for the day
- Name a contact for the day
- Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Give us final numbers a week or so before

Should I cook it myself?
You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
- Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
- Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
- Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
- Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
