Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Plates or china
  • The journey to the venue
  • Numbers
  • Season and day of the week

For larger numbers, a hog roast is usually good value, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Getting an accurate quote

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Where the event is
  • Your date and serving time
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • What the outdoor space is like

Every wedding is quoted on its own, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Tell us about your wedding for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.

About our wedding hog roast in Capel

For a relaxed wedding in Capel, a hog roast hits the right note: generous, hearty food carved in front of your guests. Our staff serve and clear, so the day runs smoothly. Whether it’s weddings in a marquee and anniversary vow renewals, we will put together a menu of salads, new potatoes and halloumi skewers and more.

A wedding in a small place like Capel frequently means a field, a barn or a family garden. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Let us know about access and ground. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

Capel: your questions answered

Is Capel close to London?

Roughly 26 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Can you cater after a service at Church of St John the Baptist?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

What about guests who don’t eat pork?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We do not provide halal meat.

Can we just hire the roaster?

DIY machine hire is available. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Do you come to Capel?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Capel and Surrey. Send us the address for a quote.

What if it rains?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Can the hog roast be for the evening?

Yes. We will agree a serving time around your running order.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Before you choose a spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:

  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn
  • A serving area close to where guests eat
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Organising for someone else?

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Catered or do it yourself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

A hog roast or other catering?

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. There may be a fee. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

Why book with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Planned to your running order
  • An itemised quote

Take a look at our prices page or the cost guide.

What happens on the day

Expect a calm, organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up where we’ve agreed, and get on with roasting and serving. For a summer wedding in Capel, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Preparing for the day
