How we price a hog roast for your wedding

Each price is built from:

  • Time on site
  • The date and time of year
  • The journey to the venue
  • Which meats and sides you choose

A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds a lot of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

What to tell us

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • Any venue rules
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • An estimate of numbers
  • Dietary requirements

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the wedding is and roughly how many. A picture of the cooking area helps. Fill in our quote form.

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast wedding breakfast is relaxed and typically costs less per head. It still feels like a feast. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.

Why book with us

  • Served at the time you choose
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Fresh carving at the serving station

Read our pricing or the cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

The process

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. For a summer wedding in Cooper's Green, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, which means an evening hog roast is generally served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. Tell us whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. You get a quote listing menu, staff and plates.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Looking after everyone

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Put a dietary question on the invitation
  • Give final numbers in good time

Give us your venue coordinator’s details, for access and timings.

Lamb alongside the pork gives guests a choice.

FAQs for Cooper's Green

Can you do a hog roast in Hempstead Meadow?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first.

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.

Is mains power needed?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Do you clear up?

Our staff clear the serving area, and we take our equipment with us.

Is a hog roast enough for a wedding?

For the main meal, add sides such as salads and potatoes; in the evening, rolls on their own work well.

What if it rains?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Do you serve the food?

You don’t need anyone else: we carve, serve and tidy up.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We’ll be as flexible as we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

Organising for someone else?

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before you book. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.
