Where the roaster can go in Crow
Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. The ideal spot has:
- Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
- A way in for the roaster
- A level spot near, but not too near, the marquee
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
From the roaster
- Stuffing and apple sauce
- Roast or jacket potatoes
- Spit-roast lamb
- Rotisserie chicken
- Halloumi skewers (V)
- Vegan option (Ve)
- New potatoes
- Crackling
- Hog roast rolls
- Salads
Wedding hog roast in Crow, slow-roasted on site
Not every guest eats pork, so we plan for that: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers and a vegan option. We don’t offer halal meat. On the menu are spit-roast lamb, halloumi skewers and salads, and we’re often booked for blessings and renewals and small, informal weddings.
Rural weddings around Crow have a magic of their own, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.
How we price a hog roast for your wedding
There is no fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
- How long the roast and service take
- The journey to the venue
- Numbers
Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.
What we need to know
These are the details we need:
- Anything the venue has asked for
- What the outdoor space is like
- The venue or postcode
- Rough numbers
The quickest way to get a price is to send us your date, venue and numbers. A photo of the cooking area helps. Send us your details through our quote form.
For event organisers in Crow
Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.
If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.
What comes off the roaster
Crackling
Crackling takes hours to get right, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.

Step by step
Rain does not stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Evening food at a Crow wedding often goes out just as the light fades: about 9:25pm at midsummer, 8:55pm in late May and 7:10pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.
- Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
- We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
- We fit timings around your running order.
- We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
- Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.
Getting ready for the day
- Have a level outdoor spot ready

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Crow
Do you cater at venues in the New Forest National Park?
Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.
Is Crow too small for a hog roast?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
Is a hog roast enough for a wedding?
With sides, it’s a full wedding breakfast; for evening food, rolls are usually enough.
How big a hog will we need?
We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will confirm everything in writing.
What if it rains?
We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.
Who serves?
Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.
Do you clear up?
Our staff clear the serving area, so you’re not left with the mess.
How soon do you get booked up?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we’ll check.
Looking after everyone
You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:
- Halal isn’t offered, so plan separately if needed
- Give final numbers in good time
- Collect dietary needs with RSVPs
- Note which guests do not eat pork, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
You won’t have to think about the food. We arrive hours before serving, roast through the day and carve on cue.
Gluten-free rolls can be provided for the evening food.
Is a hog roast right for your wedding?
If your venue does its own catering, check whether you can bring in a hog roast. There may be a fee. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.
Why us?
- Fresh carving at the serving station
- A choice of salads and potatoes
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
- No surprises: everything in writing

Catered or do it yourself?
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.
Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.
