Wedding hog roast for Egham

Wedding hog roast in Egham, carved to order

A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: people gather round as the chef carves. It feels like an occasion. For marquee receptions and anniversary vow renewals, we can cook spit-roast lamb, carved roast pork and halloumi skewers for your guests.

A wedding in Egham might mean a church ceremony followed by a reception in a garden, marquee or hall. That suits a hog roast perfectly: the roaster cooks outside while guests celebrate. You’ll know what’s included before you book: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed, with no surprises on the day.

Planning for dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:

  • Collect dietary needs with RSVPs
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us

We serve and clear without fuss, so the party carries on around us.

China crockery can be added for the wedding breakfast, quoted separately.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a cold evening buffet, hot carved pork beats sandwiches every time. For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Why book with us

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • An itemised quote
  • Sides to make it a full meal

The process

We work to your timings. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so keep us posted on the day. At midsummer, sunset in Egham is about 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

What affects the price in Egham

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Site access
  • The date and time of year
  • Time on site
  • Which meats and sides you choose

Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What to tell us

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Roughly how many people
  • Where the event is
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china

Planners, venues and businesses

Marquee suppliers usually set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.

Before you choose a spot

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • A serving area close to where guests eat
  • A safe distance from marquee walls, buildings and trees
  • Light near the carving station after dark

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

Catered or do it yourself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

FAQs for Egham

Can you cater after a service at St John's Church?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.

Is Egham close to London?

Roughly 20 miles from the centre of London.

Do you need power or water?

The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is typically fine if the venue is happy.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We pack everything away after service, so you’re not left with the mess.

Do you serve the food?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.

How soon do you get booked up?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we will check.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

Of course: carved pork on plates with sides, with our staff serving.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
