How our wedding hog roast works in Woking

For a relaxed wedding in Woking, a hog roast hits the right note: proper food, carved fresh, with plenty for everyone. We serve and tidy up, so you can enjoy it. We serve spit-roast lamb, crackling and carved roast pork, and typical bookings are for barn and farm weddings and small, informal weddings.

Around Woking, couples choose venues, gardens and marquees. We’ll agree where the roaster goes with your venue. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • Remember that stuffing generally contains gluten
  • Halal isn’t offered, so plan separately if needed
  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Give final numbers in good time

You will not have to think about the food. We arrive hours before serving, roast through the day and carve on cue.

Add spit-roast lamb for a second roast.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

Roast pork

Everything starts with the slow-roasted pork: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, and served hot.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Where the roaster can go in Woking

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • Light near the carving station after dark
  • A way in for the roaster

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Why choose a hog roast in Woking?

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. There may be a fee. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Common questions in Woking

Can you do a hog roast in Hoe Valley Linear Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Which station is closest to Woking?

Woking station, about 0.7 miles east of the centre.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. We do not offer halal meat.

What should we sort out beforehand?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

When should we book?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

Do you clear up?

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.

Will guests be full?

Quantities are based on your guest list, and we’ll confirm it in writing.

How the day works

A typical booking goes like this: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and our chef carves it when you’re ready. Golden-hour photos in Woking at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage

Prices and what affects them

The biggest factors are:

  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Plates or china
  • Numbers
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

What to tell us

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Roughly how many people
  • The date and time of the event
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Dietary requirements

Send us the date, the address or GU21 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We will confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.

  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
