About our wedding hog roast in Great Shoddesden

A hog roast suits relaxed weddings in Great Shoddesden: proper food, carved fresh, with plenty for everyone. Our staff serve and clear, so you can enjoy it. How it works

The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. Golden-hour photos in Great Shoddesden at midsummer come around 9:25pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:10pm.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

Preparing for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Should I cook it myself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a cold buffet, hot carved pork beats sandwiches every time late at night. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

Why us?

  • Planned to your running order
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Planning for dietary needs

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list

We will be at the venue for most of the day, out of the way, by the cooking area.
