Wedding hog roast in Great Stonar

About our wedding hog roast in Great Stonar

For a relaxed wedding in Great Stonar, a hog roast hits the right note: proper food, carved fresh, with plenty for everyone. We serve and tidy up, so you can enjoy it. Typical bookings include relaxed, low-key weddings and post-wedding gatherings, with rotisserie chicken, spit-roast lamb and halloumi skewers.

A wedding in a small place like Great Stonar often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That’s where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Planning for dietary needs

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:

  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed

We will liaise with your venue coordinator, so we can sort the cooking spot and timings with them.

Some couples add lights around the serving area; tell your venue or marquee supplier.

How it works

Serving is straightforward: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Golden-hour photos in Great Stonar at midsummer come around 9:15pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:45pm, and in late September about 7:00pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Should I cook it myself?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

What we serve, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken off the rotisserie, carved or jointed can be served in a roll or on a plate alongside the pork.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Halloumi and vegetable skewers are the vegetarian choice: grilled halloumi with vegetables.
