Looking after everyone

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Give final numbers in good time
  • Collect dietary needs with RSVPs
  • Remember that stuffing generally contains gluten
  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice

If speeches overrun or the band starts late, we adjust. Just keep us informed.

Choose sides to make it a full meal.

Wedding hog roast in Jealott's Hill, carved to order

We look after guests who do not eat pork: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers and a vegan option. We don’t offer halal meat. We serve rotisserie chicken, spit-roast lamb and salads, and we are regularly asked to cater vow renewals and blessings and small, informal weddings.

There’s something special about a country wedding near Jealott's Hill, and slow-roasted pork carved for guests adds to it. Plan firm ground and a route for our vehicle. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

There is no fixed price list, because every wedding is different. The main factors are:

  • The number of people
  • Crockery choices
  • Season and day of the week
  • The serving time and how long we are on site

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

What to tell us

These are the details we need:

  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Your date and serving time
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

Common questions in Jealott's Hill

Is Jealott's Hill close to London?

About 28 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Which station is closest to Jealott's Hill?

Bracknell station, about 2.8 miles south of the centre.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. Serving inside is fine where allowed.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

How soon do you get booked up?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we will check.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

Many couples do exactly that, with lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside.

Do you serve the food?

You don’t need anyone else: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. We do not offer halal meat.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with pizza or other evening vans, carving serves plenty of people fast. Distance is part of the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address for an accurate figure.

What you get with us

  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • Timed around your day
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it

The process

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. In Jealott's Hill, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

How to prepare

  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Give us a contact number for the day
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking

Planners, venues and businesses

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.

  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
