Wedding hog roast in Red Hill

Wedding hog roast near Red Hill

Your venue and we agree the cooking spot and timings, so on the day everything is in place. We serve rotisserie chicken, salads and crackling, and we’re often booked for home weddings and vow renewals and blessings.

A wedding in a small place like Red Hill often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. The hog is roasted on site at your wedding, low and slow, for hours.

Allergies and dietary needs

Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Some ideas:

  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Halal isn’t offered, so plan separately if needed
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options

We will be at the venue for most of the day, working quietly in the background.

China crockery can be added for the wedding breakfast, as an extra.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

If your venue does its own catering, check whether you can bring in a hog roast. Some venues charge a fee. Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why us?

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • Approval from the venue or marquee supplier

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues often have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, which keeps it hot and moist right to the last roll.

Crackling

Crackling is what people queue for: golden, crunchy and salty.

Red Hill questions

Can you cater after a service at Church of St Peter and St Paul?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Do you come out to small places like Red Hill?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

What if it rains?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

Yes. We serve it on plates with salads and potatoes, with china available, and our staff serve your guests.

Do you come to Red Hill?

We do. Send us the address and we’ll check the date.

Is there a non-pork option?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t provide halal meat.

What’s included?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

How soon do you get booked up?

Popular dates go early. But it is always worth asking: fill in our quote form.

Prices and what affects them

Here’s what affects the price:

  • Time on site
  • Menu choices and extras
  • How many people are eating
  • Plates or china

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What to tell us

These are the details we need:

  • Where the event is
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • An estimate of numbers

When you are weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. Ours lists it clearly. To get yours, fill in our quote form.

The process

We arrive hours before you want to eat, since slow roasting cannot be rushed. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. In Red Hill, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:00pm, which means an evening hog roast is normally served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:50pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We fit our timings around your running order and the venue.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Getting ready for the day

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
