Wedding hog roast for Rochester

About our wedding hog roast in Rochester

A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: people gather round as the chef carves. It’s food and a bit of theatre. We’re frequently asked to cater weddings in a family garden and blessings and renewals, with halloumi skewers, new potatoes and spit-roast lamb.

A wedding in Rochester might mean a church ceremony followed by a reception in a garden, marquee or hall. That suits a hog roast perfectly: we roast outdoors while the reception gets going. The hog is roasted on site at your wedding, low and slow, for hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

Things that change the price:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • Whether you want china
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • How easy it is to reach the spot

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What to tell us

To get the best quote, tell us:

  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Where the event is
  • Rough numbers
  • Which meats and sides you’d like

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the wedding is and roughly how many. A photo of the cooking area helps. Use our quote form.

Working with your venue

Questions from Rochester

We’re gathering after a service at Church of St Nicholas: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Which station is closest to Rochester?

Rochester has its own station: Rochester station.

Will guests be full?

We’ll plan quantities from your numbers, and we’ll confirm it in writing.

How soon do you get booked up?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: send us your details through our quote form.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

Yes. We serve it on plates with salads and potatoes, with china available, and our staff serve your guests.

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Of course. We will time it around your first dance and band.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. We can serve inside the marquee if the supplier agrees.

What’s included?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

How the day works

We get there well ahead of service, since slow roasting can’t be rushed. The smell typically brings people over long before we carve. Evening food at a Rochester wedding frequently goes out just as the light fades: about 9:20pm at midsummer, 8:50pm in late May and 7:00pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.

  1. Tell us whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.
