A hog roast near Selhurst
How our wedding hog roast works in Selhurst
Your venue and we agree the cooking spot and timings, so nothing is left to chance. Whether it’s weddings in a marquee and anniversary vow renewals, we can cook rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and new potatoes for your guests.
Couples in Selhurst often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, so check with the venue early. Before you choose a spot
A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:
- Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster
- A short walk from the serving station to the guests
- A way in for the roaster
As a London location, Selhurst is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

The process
When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. At midsummer, sunset in Selhurst is about 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

A hog roast or other catering?
Next to a wedding barbecue, a hog roast feeds everyone at once from one roast without batches coming off a grill. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.
Why us?
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
- Carved by our chef in front of your guests
- Staff to serve, so you do not have to
- All the equipment comes with us

DIY versus a catered hog roast
A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is normally easier.
You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Common questions in Selhurst
We’re gathering after a service at Church of St Mark: can you cater?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.
What if our house in Selhurst has no side access?
Frequently, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.
What comes with the hog roast?
Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.
How do we prepare?
Only the space and a contact number. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.
Do you serve the food?
You do not need anyone else: we carve, serve and tidy up.
What about coeliacs?
Ask for gluten-free rolls and we will bring them. You will get allergen details for everything.
When should we book?
Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we will check.
Is there a non-pork option?
There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.
About the food
Spit-roast lamb
With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which suits bigger events.
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, so they get something hot and satisfying too.
Working with your venue
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and pass on anything they need from us.
If the event is on someone else’s land, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.
