Wedding hog roast in Soldridge

Wedding hog roast in Soldridge, carved to order

Your venue and we agree the cooking spot and timings, so on the day everything is in place. Typical bookings include late-night wedding food and small, informal weddings, with spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken and carved roast pork.

A wedding in a small place like Soldridge often means a field, a barn or a family garden. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Should I cook it myself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

How the day works

We roast under cover, so a shower will not spoil the food. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Golden-hour photos in Soldridge at midsummer come around 9:25pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 7:10pm in late September.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

How to prepare

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

Working with your venue

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it is worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

Add salads, coleslaw and potatoes to make it a proper meal.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: grilled halloumi with vegetables, in a roll or on a plate.

Questions from Soldridge

How far is Soldridge from London?

Roughly 50 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Is Soldridge too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. We can serve inside the marquee if the supplier agrees.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. We do not provide halal meat.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

What if things run late?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Do you leave the area tidy?

Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.

What should we sort out beforehand?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We bring everything else.

  • Collect dietary needs with RSVPs

Evening food usually goes out an hour or two after the first dance.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, as an extra.
