A hog roast near South Town

Wedding hog roast in South Town, slow-roasted on site

The carving station becomes a focal point: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It’s food and a bit of theatre. Popular choices include crackling, new potatoes and rotisserie chicken, and we are often booked for wedding breakfasts and evening receptions.

Near South Town, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Let us know about access and ground. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Why choose a hog roast in South Town?

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast is more relaxed and often better value. It still feels special. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Why South Town hosts choose us

  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

Looking after everyone

You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To help:

  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed
  • Put a dietary question on the invitation
  • Halal is not offered, so plan separately if needed
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list

Running late? A slow roast can wait a little. Just keep us informed.

What a hog roast costs

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • How many people are eating
  • Distance from us
  • How long the roast and service take

Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

Details that help

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Rough numbers

Not sure how many to cater for? Give us your best estimate and we will quote on that, and you can confirm nearer the time. Fill in our quote form.

A closer look at the menu

Roast pork

Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, straight from the roaster.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

How it works

Your timings come first. If things run late, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so tell us as soon as plans change. In South Town, evening wedding food often coincides with dusk: sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:10pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Preparing for the day

  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

South Town: your questions answered

What’s the nearest station to South Town?

Alton station, about 4.5 miles east of the centre.

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Andrew: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will confirm the space with your quote.

What happens in bad weather?

We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We’ll confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

How do we prepare?

Only the space and a contact number. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

Can we have both pork and lamb?

Lamb and chicken are both available alongside the hog.

Do you cover South Town?

We do. Tell us the venue or postcode and we will check the date.

For event organisers in South Town

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it’s worth asking first. We will work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Full catering or machine hire?

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Planning the cooking spot

A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Ideally:

  • Light near the carving station after dark
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • Step-free access for our equipment

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.
