Funeral wake catering for South Town
What a hog roast costs
Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:
- How long the roast and service take
- Access to the cooking area
- The journey to the venue
- Which meats and sides you choose
The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.
Getting an accurate quote
Good details mean a good quote. Please include:
- Allergies we should know about
- Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
- Anything the venue has asked for
- The venue or postcode
We need a few details to quote: the date and serving time, the venue or GU34 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Fill in our quote form.
Funeral wake catering near South Town
A wake might be at home, a village or church hall, a club or a pub. We need an outdoor spot to cook, and the food can be served inside. We’re often asked to cater family get-togethers after a service and gatherings at the family home, with halloumi skewers, apple sauce and new potatoes.
In rural South Town, home or the hall is usual. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.
Organising for someone else?
If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.
Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what we can provide.
A hog roast or other catering?
A hog roast can sit alongside cakes and tea, which is fine with us. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.
Why book with us
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
- Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Choices for people who don’t eat pork
- A clear quote with everything listed
See our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.
What comes off the roaster
Rotisserie chicken
Chicken from the rotisserie gives people a non-pork choice, roasted until golden.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Everything goes into a soft roll, easy to eat standing up. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
Allergies and dietary needs
Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:
- Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
- Check with family about dietary needs
- Count anyone who does not eat pork
- Plates are easier for older guests than rolls
We arrive in good time and roast quietly, out of the way of arriving guests.
China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.
How it works
When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Most wakes in South Town are held in the afternoon, which is daylight for most of the year, but by late December it is dark at about 4:00pm.
- Contact us as soon as you have a date.
- We confirm the space.
- We set up and roast on the day.
- We serve quietly.
- We tidy up and go.
Before we arrive
- Send final numbers in good time
- Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
- Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
