How our wedding hog roast works in South Earlswood

A wedding hog roast can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, and our chef carves on cue. Typical bookings include weddings in a marquee and rustic barn receptions, with salads, spit-roast lamb and carved roast pork.

There’s something special about a country wedding near South Earlswood, and slow-roasted pork carved for guests adds to it. Plan firm ground and a route for our vehicle. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

The menu, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

Golden rotisserie chicken can be served in a roll or on a plate.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Put a dietary question on the invitation
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately

We serve and clear without fuss, and leave you to celebrate.

Lamb alongside the pork gives guests a choice.

A hog roast compared with other options

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.

Why South Earlswood hosts choose us

  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

See how we price or the cost guide.

What a hog roast costs

Each price is built from:

  • Access to the cooking area
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What we need to know

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Useful details:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Any venue rules

For a quote, send us a few details: your date, your venue or postcode, how many people and any menu choices. Fill in our quote form.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in South Earlswood

Do you cater at venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Could you cook in Earlswood Common?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

What should we sort out beforehand?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

What about guests who don’t eat pork?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We do not offer halal meat.

How do you work out quantities?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will talk it through when we quote.

What if things run late?

We will be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will fit around changes.

Will our venue allow a hog roast?

Many do, but some only allow approved caterers or charge a fee. Ask your venue early, and we will work with them on the details.

Where will the roaster go at our wedding?

Outside, under its own cover, a safe distance from the marquee. We can serve inside the marquee if the supplier agrees.

What happens on the day

We get there well ahead of service, since slow roasting can’t be rushed. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. In South Earlswood, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means an evening hog roast is usually served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

How to prepare

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

Getting a price

We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your wedding: send us your details through our quote form.
