Wedding hog roast for Streatham Hill

Wedding hog roast near Streatham Hill

The carving station becomes a focal point: people gather round as the chef carves. It is food and a bit of theatre. We are frequently asked to cater intimate weddings and anniversary vow renewals, with rotisserie chicken, salads and spit-roast lamb.

London weddings around Streatham Hill often mean a reception at a hired venue, a pub with a garden or a family home. We need an outdoor cooking area clear of the venue, so check with the venue early. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

How it works

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Golden-hour photos in Streatham Hill at midsummer come around 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • Power for lights in the evening
  • A serving area close to where guests eat
  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn

As a London location, Streatham Hill is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Booking for a club or group? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.

If you are a venue or event planner, we’re happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast is more relaxed and often better value. It still feels like a feast. For larger numbers, a hog roast is usually good value, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

FAQs for Streatham Hill

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Margaret: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

What if our house in Streatham Hill has no side access?

Often, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

What comes with the hog roast?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.

Can the hog roast be for the evening?

Yes, evening food is very popular. Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling go down well after dancing.

Can we add a second roast?

Lamb and chicken are both available alongside the hog.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

When do you start roasting?

Hours rather than minutes. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Can you roast in the rain?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

Looking after everyone

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers

We are on site for much of the day, working quietly in the background.

Add spit-roast lamb for a second roast.
