Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Compared with a cold evening buffet, hot carved pork beats sandwiches every time. For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.
What you get with us

Wedding hog roast in The Mint, slow-roasted on site
A slow roast suits a wedding day that runs late: it can be held for a while once cooked, so the food copes with a delayed running order. Typical bookings include small, informal weddings and post-wedding gatherings, serving new potatoes, salads and rotisserie chicken.
Near The Mint, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Let us know about access and ground. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours.

For planners, venues and organisers
For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

How we price a hog roast for your wedding
Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:
- The date and time of year
- Access to the cooking area
- The serving time and how long we are on site
- How many people are eating
Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

Should I cook it myself?
A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is typically easier.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
Allergies and dietary needs
Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:
- Stuffing normally contains gluten
- Share the menu with your venue coordinator
- Confirm final numbers a week or so before
- Halal is not offered, so plan separately if needed
We are on site for much of the day, out of the way, by the cooking area.
Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.
