Slow-roasted pork in Trolliloes
Wedding hog roast in Trolliloes, carved to order
Wedding timings shift, and a slow roast copes well: a cooked roast holds for a while, so a long speech won’t ruin the food. We serve rotisserie chicken, carved roast pork and salads, and we’re frequently booked for rustic barn receptions and evening receptions.
A wedding in a small place like Trolliloes often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That’s where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

What we serve, dish by dish
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Everything goes into a soft roll, easy to eat standing up. Ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them.
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.
Trolliloes: your questions answered
Do you cater at venues in the High Weald National Landscape?
Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.
How far is Trolliloes from London?
Roughly 44 miles from the centre of London.
Will there be enough to go round?
The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so a good estimate matters. The quote sets it out.
How much does a hog roast cost?
Every booking is quoted individually, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.
What’s included?
Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.
What if it rains?
We roast under cover, so the food isn’t affected. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.
What do you need from us on the day?
Only the space and a contact number. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.
Do you come to Trolliloes?
Yes. We cover London and the South East, Trolliloes and the rest of East Sussex included. Send us the address for a quote.
Allergies and dietary needs
Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:
- Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
- Give final numbers in good time
- Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
- Share the menu with your venue coordinator
On your wedding day, the food should look after itself. We arrive hours before serving, roast through the day and carve on cue.
China crockery can be added for the wedding breakfast, as an extra.
Why choose wedding hog roast in Trolliloes?
One booking can cover the wedding breakfast and the evening food, which keeps things simple.
However big or small the event in Trolliloes, a hog roast feeds a crowd well. We are often asked to cater:
- Marquee receptions
- Rustic barn receptions
- The main wedding meal
- Evening food after the first dance
Among the historic houses close to Trolliloes are Horselunges Manor (3.7 miles south-west). Grand venues like these typically set rules for outside caterers, so ask before booking.
Before booking anyone
- Allergen information for every dish
- Arrival time and how long the roast needs
- When payments are due and what happens if plans change
- The menu, including sides and any extras
Working with your venue
Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it’s worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
Prices and what affects them
The price comes down to:
- Time on site
- Access to the cooking area
- Distance from us
- Plates or china
The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.
Getting an accurate quote
When you enquire, please mention:
- Where the event is
- Rough numbers
- The date and when you’d like to eat
- Any dietary needs or allergies
Numbers not final yet? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, and you can confirm nearer the time. Use our quote form.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Next to a wedding barbecue, a hog roast feeds everyone at once from one roast. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.
Why book with us
- A choice of salads and potatoes
- Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
- Planned to your running order

Step by step
Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. At a December wedding in Trolliloes, it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so plan a lit path from the party to the food, while a June wedding has light until about 9:15pm.
- You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
- We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
- We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
- We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
- Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.
Preparing for the day
- Gather dietary requirements early
- Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
- Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:
- A serving area close to where guests eat
- A route to wheel equipment to the spot
- A safe distance from marquee walls, buildings and trees
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before you book.
