Wedding hog roast in Viables
Wedding hog roast near Viables
Wedding timings shift, and a slow roast copes well: a cooked roast holds for a while, so the food copes with a delayed running order. For garden weddings at home and marquee weddings, we can cook rotisserie chicken, carved roast pork and spit-roast lamb.
Weddings in a place like Viables frequently feel personal: a local church, then a marquee in a garden or field. The roaster cooks a safe distance from the marquee. Tell us about access to the field or garden. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

For weddings in RG21, RG22 and RG25, we just need to know where the roaster can cook and roughly how many guests. If your venue is just outside Viables, we also cover Cliddesden (1 mile south), Eastrop (1 mile north), Oakridge (1 mile north), Lychpit (2 miles north-east) and Old Basing (2 miles north-east). The menu, dish by dish
Spit-roast lamb
Lamb on the spit roasts gently for hours, carved to order at the serving station.
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.
Viables questions
Can you do a hog roast in Hackwood Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.
Is Viables close to London?
Roughly 46 miles from the centre of London.
Do you clear up?
We pack everything away after service, so you are not left with the mess.
Do you need power or water?
Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. Power can help with lighting after dark.
How much will it be?
Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.
Can we offer lamb too?
Yes, spit-roast lamb can go alongside the pork.
How do we prepare?
The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We’ll bring the rest.
What about guests who don’t eat pork?
There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We do not offer halal meat.
A hog roast compared with other options
Next to a wedding barbecue, one roast feeds all your guests together without batches coming off a grill. Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.
Why book our hog roast in Viables

Working with your venue
For venues and planners, we’re happy to work alongside your team.
For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.
Planning for dietary needs
With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:
- Put a dietary question on the invitation
- Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
- Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
- Give your coordinator the final menu
We’ll be at the venue for most of the day, out of the way, by the cooking area.
Some couples add lights around the serving area.
Planning the cooking spot
A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Ideally:
- Light near the carving station after dark
- A way in for the roaster
- Space well clear of tents and trees
If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

How it works
We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we don’t need mains power to cook; a nearby socket helps with lights if service runs into the evening. In Viables, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:10pm, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 4:00pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.
- Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
- We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
- We fit timings around your running order.
- The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
- Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.
How to prepare
- Have a level outdoor spot ready
- Confirm numbers ahead of the day
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

Prices and what affects them
We work out each quote from:
- Menu choices and extras
- Numbers
- Travel to Viables
- Whether you want china
Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.
