Wedding hog roast in Warnham

Wedding hog roast near Warnham

A slow roast suits a wedding day that runs late: it can be held for a while once cooked, so the food copes with a delayed running order. We’re often asked to cater small, informal weddings and rustic barn receptions, serving carved roast pork, new potatoes and rotisserie chicken.

Rural weddings around Warnham have a magic of their own, and slow-roasted pork carved for guests adds to it. Plan firm ground and a route for our vehicle. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

For planners, venues and organisers

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before you book. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

FAQs for Warnham

Can you cater after a service at The Parish Church of St Margaret?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

What’s included?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

Do you serve the food?

No need for your own staff: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

Is a hog roast enough for a wedding?

Quantities are based on your guest list, and we will confirm it in writing.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

It works well as a relaxed main meal, with alternatives for non-pork eaters.

When do you start roasting?

Hours rather than minutes. You’ll know our arrival time in advance.

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Of course. We will agree a serving time around your running order.

Step by step

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. At midsummer, sunset in Warnham is about 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Space, access and the venue

Planning the cooking spot is the key. A quick checklist:

  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Give final numbers in good time
  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
  • Put a dietary question on the invitation
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten

Running late? A slow roast can wait a little. Your coordinator can keep us posted.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, as an extra.

Catered or do it yourself?

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. Distance is part of the price: travel is included in your quote. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

About the food

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
