BBQ catering in Chinatown, served hot

Barbecue food is sociable food: people gather round the grill and come back for seconds. In Chinatown, we will set up where it suits your event. Whether it is 18th, 21st, 40th and 50th birthdays and leaving parties, we can cook pulled pork, halloumi skewers and beef brisket.

Around Chinatown, most London barbecues are in back gardens, yards, courtyards and car parks. If there’s no side passage, a rear gate or yard may work, and a photo helps us check. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Occasions we serve in Chinatown

Halloumi skewers and a vegan burger or sausage

A barbecue suits all kinds of events in Chinatown. Popular bookings include:

  • Informal weddings
  • Close and cul-de-sac parties
  • Summer parties in the garden
  • Reunions and family get-togethers

Thinking of a barbecue in St Anne's Churchyard? Many parks ban barbecues, and catering needs the landowner’s permission, usually the council’s.

Our BBQ planning guide

Why a catered barbecue beats doing it yourself

Next to doing the barbecue yourself, no host is stuck flipping burgers all afternoon, and the food is cooked properly by people who do it every week. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

What you get with us

  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option
  • Served at the time you choose
  • Six meats to choose from

Chinatown barbecues: local tips

Chinatown is about 1 mile east of City of Westminster, in Greater London. Events in Chinatown are part of our patch, along with the towns and villages around it. We cater 764 places in Greater London.

Among the historic houses close to Chinatown are Benjamin Franklin House (less than half a mile south-east) and Burlington House (under half a mile south-west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and open cooking early. For guests coming by train, Chinatown has its own station, Tottenham Court Road station.

For events in W1F, W1D and W1T, we just need to know where the barbecue can cook and a serving time. Your event could be at a house on Duck Lane, Drury Lane and Bruton Lane or the roads around them, as long as there is somewhere outside to cook. You’ll find Chinatown on the A4 and A301, so it’s easy for us to reach with the equipment. Close by, we cover events in Soho (1 mile north), St James's (1 mile south), West End (1 mile north-east), Seven Dials (1 mile north-east) and St Giles (1 mile north-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Kensington (3 miles west), Shoreditch (3 miles north-east), Walthamstow (7 miles north-east), Hoxton (3 miles north-east), Whitechapel (3 miles east) and Hampstead (4 miles north-west).

Other landmarks nearby include St James Workhouse (under half a mile north-west) and Leverian collection (under half a mile south-east). Open spaces near Chinatown include Barnsbury Wood and St. James's Park Lake.

  • Nearby schools include LITE Regal International School (0.6 miles west) and Harris Westminster Sixth Form (0.8 miles south)
  • Local pubs include Waxy O'Connor's pub (under half a mile south-west)
  • Other local spots include London Library (within half a mile south-west) and Westminster St James (less than half a mile south-west)

About the food

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Our vegan option is a vegan burger or sausage, in a roll, with salad on the side.

Beef burgers

Beef burgers are quick to grill, so they keep the queue moving.

What the cooking area needs

The grill needs flat ground outdoors and cover overhead. Here’s what we look for:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A thought for the wind direction, so smoke drifts away from guests
  • Somewhere dry for guests to eat if it rains

Chinatown is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

How the day works

Before service, we set up the grill and the serving table on the agreed spot. Then it’s a case of cooking and serving for as long as we have agreed. Evening barbecues in Chinatown need a little planning: it’s light until about 9:20pm in June but only about 7:05pm in late September. Plan lights for the serving area after that.

  1. Show us the space.
  2. We confirm it works and send a quote.
  3. We grill outdoors at your event.
  4. We serve as your guests come up.
  5. We clear up so you do not have to.

Before we arrive

  • Choose the menu a week or so before
  • Pick a spot where smoke blows away from guests
  • Gather dietary requirements early

Questions from Chinatown

What’s the nearest station to Chinatown?

Chinatown has its own station: Tottenham Court Road station.

Could you cook in St Anne's Churchyard?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What meats do you barbecue?

You choose from burgers, sausages, chicken skewers, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Most events pick three or four.

Do you cover Chinatown?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, Chinatown and the rest of Greater London included. Tell us the venue and we’ll quote.

Is the meat halal?

We do not offer halal. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, or halal food can be arranged separately.

How far ahead should we book a barbecue?

Summer Saturdays go first, so ask as early as you can. Midweek dates are usually easier to get. Use our quote form.

Do you bring plates and clear up?

Plates come as standard and our staff clear the serving area.

Do you cater for vegetarians?

Yes. Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, and vegans get a vegan burger or sausage, cooked separately from the meat.

For planners, venues and organisers

Booking for a club or group? One clear contact makes everything easier, especially on the day.

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it is worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

How we price a catered barbecue

There’s no fixed price list, because every event is different. The main factors are:

  • The number of people
  • Travel to Chinatown
  • Plates or china
  • The date and time of year

Distance is part of the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Roughly how many people
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Your date and serving time

We price every booking individually, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Ask us for a quote for your event: use our quote form.

  • Cooked on site by our chef, outdoors under cover
  • A full barbecue menu, not just burgers
  • Vegetarian and vegan options: halloumi skewers and a vegan burger or sausage
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
