Looking after everyone

Tell us about dietary needs early and we’ll help. Tips:

  • Tell us about children’s numbers
  • Check the allergen information for sauces and marinades
  • Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
  • Check which rolls and sauces contain gluten

The barbecue goes where we agreed, leaving the rest of the space to you.

Pulled pork and brisket make the menu feel more substantial.

Step by step

Before service, we set up the grill and the serving table on the agreed spot. Then it’s a case of cooking and serving through the time you’ve chosen. For an evening barbecue in Dunkirk, think about light: daylight lasts until about 9:15pm at midsummer, but by late September it goes at about 7:00pm. After dark, the serving table needs lighting.

  1. Show us the space.
  2. We check it and send a price.
  3. We grill outdoors at your event.
  4. We serve as your guests come up.
  5. We clear up so you don’t have to.

How to prepare

  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Plan lighting if the barbecue runs into the evening
  • Think about where the smoke will drift

Why a catered barbecue beats doing it yourself

Compared with ordering takeaway, the cooking is part of the atmosphere, with the smell drawing people over. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Why us?

  • Add a hog roast alongside
  • Meat-free choices on every menu
  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Our chef at the grill, not you

Planners, venues and businesses

For venues and planners, we’re happy to work alongside your team.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We will keep everyone in the loop.

How we price a catered barbecue

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Travel to Dunkirk
  • Whether you want china
  • The number of people

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What to tell us

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Roughly how many people
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Where the event is
  • Allergies we should know about

Planning ahead? Popular dates fill up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Send us your date for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.

A catered BBQ in Dunkirk: what to know

Dunkirk is about 4 miles south-east of Faversham, in Kent. We cover Dunkirk and its neighbours for events. We cater all 922 towns and villages across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages.

For anyone arriving by rail, Selling station, about 1.9 miles south-west, is the nearest station. Thinking of a barbecue in Mount Ephraim Gardens? Many parks ban barbecues, and catering needs the landowner’s permission, usually the council’s. The Kent Downs National Landscape is within about 8 miles of Dunkirk, a lovely setting for an outdoor barbecue. Venues there may restrict open cooking, so ask about their rules first. The sea is within about 6 miles of Dunkirk, so breezy days are common: a sheltered spot keeps the grill steady and the smoke away from the queue.

Events anywhere in ME13 start with an outdoor spot for the barbecue and a serving time. From London Road and Courtenay Road or a nearby road, we’ll bring the barbecue to you. For events just outside Dunkirk, we cover Boughton under Blean (1 mile west), Winterbourne (1 mile south-west), Hickmans Green (1 mile west), Oversland (1 mile south-west) and South Street (2 miles south-west). We also serve nearby towns such as Ashford (12 miles south-west), Canterbury (5 miles east), Sittingbourne (11 miles west), Whitstable (5 miles north-east), Faversham (4 miles north-west) and Herne Bay (9 miles north-east).

Well-known places in the area include Chilham Castle (3.5 miles south) and Eastbridge Hospital of St Thomas the Martyr (4.4 miles east). Open spaces near Dunkirk include Blean Woods RSPB Reserve.

  • Local pubs include The Red Lion pub (0.5 miles east)

FAQs for Dunkirk

Could you cook in Mount Ephraim Gardens?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Is Dunkirk too small for a barbecue?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Is the meat halal?

We don’t. If guests need halal, arrange that separately.

Is the food cooked at the event?

Yes. Our chef cooks outdoors, under cover, at your event, and our staff serve and clear.

What do children typically eat?

Most children head straight for the burgers and sausages, and a vegan sausage covers anyone who doesn’t eat meat. Let us know numbers for children.

Can you label vegetarian and vegan food?

You will get allergen information for everything we serve, and we’ll label the meat-free choices clearly.

Can we have a barbecue in winter?

Summer is the busiest time, but we cook all year, with cover over the grill. Plan shelter for your guests.

Is barbecued chicken safe?

Meat is cooked until it’s steaming hot all the way through, with no pink and juices running clear, following Food Standards Agency advice.

  • Grilled at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • A full barbecue menu, not just burgers
  • Meat-free choices cooked separately
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
