Care home hog roast in North Greenwich, slow-roasted on site

Every hog roast day is planned with your care and kitchen teams: where the roaster goes, who is eating and how food is served. We serve rotisserie chicken, new potatoes and apple sauce, and we’re frequently booked for day centre lunches and staff thank-you lunches.

For a care home in North Greenwich, a corner of the garden or car park generally works, as agreed with the manager. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Working with your venue

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Tell us what you need and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

North Greenwich: your questions answered

What if our house in North Greenwich has no side access?

Often, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.

Which station is closest to North Greenwich?

Greenwich station, about 0.8 miles south of the centre.

Can you do soft food?

We don’t prepare texture-modified meals; your team prepares those portions.

How do we prepare?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.

What allergens are in the food?

Every dish comes with allergen information for your team to check.

Is mains power needed?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.

What happens after service?

We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

How we price a hog roast day

There’s no fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Time on site
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • The date and time of year
  • The number of people

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What we need to know

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • The address or postcode
  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Roughly how many people
  • Anything the venue has asked for

For a quote, send us a few details: the date and serving time, the venue or E14 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Send us your details through our quote form.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Space, access and the venue

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. The ideal spot has:

  • Approval from the home
  • Flat ground in the grounds
  • A dining room, lounge or shaded garden

North Greenwich is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

A hog roast or other catering?

Some homes combine a hog roast with entertainment, such as a singer or a garden fête. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why us?

  • All the equipment comes with us
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to
  • A choice of salads and potatoes

Read our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.

Looking after everyone

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. Other tips:

  • Request thin slices
  • Count families and staff too
  • Count residents who need an alternative
  • Halal isn’t offered

Give us a contact, such as the activities lead.

Ask about gluten-free rolls.

The process

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. In summer, North Greenwich has daylight until about 9:20pm, so an afternoon in the garden works well. In December, with dark by about 3:55pm, lunchtime is best.

  1. We plan with your manager and kitchen.
  2. We send a quote.
  3. We cook in the grounds.
  4. We carve thinly and serve on plates.
  5. We tidy up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
