Christmas hog roast for your Christmas party in Ash

For a work Christmas party in Ash, a hog roast is a change from the usual set menu: hot rolls, roast turkey if you like, and crackling for everyone. Typical bookings include boxing Day and New Year gatherings and christmas family parties, serving crackling, rotisserie chicken and apple sauce.

In winter near Ash, we need firm ground and light. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

Questions from Ash

What’s the nearest station to Ash?

Longfield station, about 2.8 miles north of the centre.

Do you cater at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain does not stop the cooking. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Can you do turkey for a Christmas party?

Roast turkey can be added for Christmas, alongside the pork.

Do you serve the food?

No need for your own staff: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Is mains power needed?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.

Do you provide china?

Plates come as standard. If you’d like china, ask and we’ll add it to the quote.

The process

Rain does not stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Sunset in Ash in late December is about 3:50pm, so plan lighting for any party after mid-afternoon. We set up in daylight and roast into the evening.

  1. Book early for December.
  2. We check your venue and send a quote.
  3. We set up under cover in daylight.
  4. We serve pork, turkey and sides.
  5. We tidy up and leave.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

Prices and what affects them

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • How many people are eating
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • The date and time of year
  • Distance from us

Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

What we need to know

To get the best quote, tell us:

  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Rough numbers
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • The date and when you’d like to eat

When you are weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. Ours lists it clearly. To get yours, use our quote form.

  • Staff Christmas do’s
  • Festive open evenings

Christmas fairs at a church such as Parish Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul can book a hog roast stall.

What your quote should include

  • How dietary needs are handled
  • Payment terms and cancellation policy

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Catered or do it yourself?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Allergies and dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Count who does not eat pork
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers

Lighting at the serving table matters after dark, so tell us what’s already there.

Roast potatoes suit a winter menu.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
