Christmas hog roast in Twelve Oaks, carved to order

December dates book up early, especially Fridays, so ask early. We are often asked to cater christmas markets and new Year parties, serving rotisserie chicken, apple sauce and crackling.

In a small place like Twelve Oaks, December lanes are dark, so let us know about access and lighting. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Looking after everyone

Rolls and stuffing normally contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:

  • Collect dietary needs with Christmas party sign-ups
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten

Here’s what affects the price:

What to tell us

These are the details we need:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Your menu choices
  • Any venue rules
  • The date and when you’d like to eat

Every Christmas party is quoted on its own, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Tell us about your Christmas party for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.

Space, access and the venue

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, so a few things are worth checking:

  • A firm surface, as winter grass can be soft
  • Light by the serving table
  • Indoor space for eating

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

From the roaster

  • Roast potatoes
  • Halloumi skewers (V)

Questions from Twelve Oaks

Do you come out to small places like Twelve Oaks?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

What’s the nearest station to Twelve Oaks?

Robertsbridge station, about 3.4 miles north-east of the centre.

What about Christmas markets?

We do. Hot food is always popular at winter fairs.

Do we need our own staff?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

What do you need from us on the day?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We bring everything else.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.

What if it rains?

Rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

What space does the roaster need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will check it with you before booking.

Organising for someone else?

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we will confirm what we can provide.

The menu, dish by dish

Roast pork

Our chef carves the pork as it is needed, so it stays hot and juicy right to the last roll.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Next to a plated turkey lunch, a hog roast is more relaxed. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.
