The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we don’t need mains power to cook, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. After-work summer events in Ladwell have light until about 9:25pm at midsummer and 8:55pm in late May, so an after-work hog roast works well in summer. In late September, the light goes at about 7:10pm.

  1. We start with the site, date, numbers and lunch break.
  2. You get a check on the date and the site, and a quote.
  3. We set up early and get the hog roasting.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve to your timings.
  5. We tidy up and leave the site clean.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Planning help

Should I cook it myself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

What a hog roast costs

Each price is built from:

  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Travel to Ladwell
  • The date and time of year
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What we need to know

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • The address or postcode
  • Any venue rules
  • Your menu choices
  • Rough numbers

We need a few details to quote: your date, your venue or postcode, how many people and any menu choices. Send us your details through our quote form.
