Planners, venues and businesses

Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, especially on the day.

Marquee suppliers usually set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Film set catering in Finkley Down, slow-roasted on site

The roaster cooks outdoors under cover, away from equipment and trucks, in a position locations are happy with. We’re frequently asked to cater music video days and shoots on location, serving spit-roast lamb, hog roast rolls and salads.

Near Finkley Down, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so hot food at base is a big help. Your quote spells out what’s included: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed, with no surprises on the day.

A hog roast can be a special day alongside regular catering, for a wrap or a milestone. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

How the day works

We roast under cover, so a shower won’t spoil the food. Your crew will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. In December, daylight in Finkley Down ends around 4:00pm, so a late lunch or wrap at base needs lighting. Summer shoots have daylight until about 9:25pm.

  2. We confirm access and send a price.
  3. The roast starts early.
  4. We serve when lunch is called.
