Common questions in St Mary's
Can you roast near the sea around St Mary's?
Yes. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.
Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the New Forest National Park?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.
Can you cater for vegetarians?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We do not provide halal meat.
Do you bring plates?
Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.
Is mains power needed?
The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.
Can we just hire the roaster?
DIY machine hire is available. We’ll confirm what comes with it and how to use it.
What comes with the hog roast?
The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.
Does the roaster have to be outside?
It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.
Is a hog roast right for your shoot?
Compared with ordering in, we are already there when lunch is called. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head normally falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your crew will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Early starts matter for a hog roast at base, and in December St Mary's is dark by about 4:00pm, so we may set up under lights.
